So I was given permission to be in charge of the family Christmas Card this year.  If my wife only knew, hehe. So we went to the local park to do a fun family photo.

Here is a break down of what I did while having fun creating this picture.
I took the back plate and started with doing a simple sky replacement to set the mood for where the picture would be set.
After I isolated all the family members from the back ground I placed them into position on the back plate I had created.  Obviously this looks like a bad Photoshop job, but this was only the beginning of what I had in mind.
If you know me at all it wouldn't surprise you that I felt the need to put the family in some kind of danger, so I include some explosions...some meaning, we just lit up the skyline with an array of action movie explosive personality.
But, at least for me, we still looked like a family cheaply cut out of a green screen and placed in front of a picture of a bunch of explosions.  Now it was time to start working on blending it all together with some color correction.
The fire was looking better but still wasn't quite right so I began working on the over all color as though it was one photo instead of multiple elements.
It was obviously still missing something if it wanted to truly be a moment from an action movie.  I thought to myself, "What if I add a plane?"

So I did.
And then for the finishing touches.
And all this resulted in our 2018 Christmas Card.  I guess that is what happens when the job is handed over to an artist.
